Tech events are notorious for their lack of diversity. Many event organisers do put in a lot of effort to attract presenters/speakers/facilitators/attendees of various genders and backgrounds and are disappointed when their efforts are not rewarded. This TechXchange event will look at various initiatives/ideas currently being implemented and what organisers still need to consider when planning an event that includes everyone. If you have ever been to an event and felt uncomfortable, or didn't need to wait in line for the bathroom (because you were the only attendee of your gender) or if you had an awesome experience and wish everywhere could be the same please come along. Help us to make the tech community a better/safer/diverse place.
As usual, we will be at the Cheeky Sparrow in Wolf Lane. Keep an eye out for our banners - you will find us upstairs. Members and non-Members of all genders are welcome - come on your own or bring a friend. Tickets are $15 for all and include gourmet pizzas and other nibbles. There will be a cash bar. Places are limited, so grab your ticket via Meetup or Eventbrite.
Our thanks to the Department of Local Government and Communities for sponsoring the WiTWA TECHXchange event series in 2017.
