TechXchange: Challenge.....Navigation for the visually impaired on mobile devices

  • Cheeky Sparrow 6/317 Murray Street Perth, WA, 6000 Australia (map)

We all think we know the difference between a good and a bad website. But what makes a website inaccessible? Have you ever considered what challenges mobile devices present to the visually impaired?

For our TECHXchange in May, WiTWA is lucky enough to be hosting the wonderful Vivienne Conway fresh from her trip to the 2016 Web for All Conference in Montreal to provide us with a thought provoking challenge and some insights into this issue. Using common in-built voice features in mobile devices, Vivienne will demonstrate some of the significant challenges the visually impaired face in navigating sites.

Join us, challenge yourself and take part in what will no doubt lead to some interesting discussions.  Don't forget to bring your mobile device.

As usual, we will be at the Cheeky Sparrow in Wolf Lane.  Members and non-Members of all genders are welcome - come on your own or bring a friend or colleague. Tickets are $10 for all and include gourmet pizzas and other nibbles. There will be a cash bar.

We are looking forward to seeing you there.

Register and secure your ticket at the WITWA meetup page.
