Let’s give a round of applause to Jasmine Flight who has recently made a huge career pivot.
After many years of working as an SQL Database Administrator, Jasmine has made the leap into a new role as an AI Engineer at PwC Australia. This is a milestone she is especially proud of, having faced significant challenges when establishing her career in Australia, despite holding a Masters degree in Computer Software Engineering.
“This milestone feels like proof that where you start really doesn’t determine where you end up, especially for mums weighing up a pivot,” – Jasmine
This pivot into AI is something Jasmine slowly chipped away at over the years, working full-time hours during the day and studying after hours once her little one went to sleep.
Jasmine is especially proud of a few milestones:
- Earning an AWS Certified AI Practitioner certification which gave her the credibility and confidence to formally step into AI.
- Being selected as an AI Champion at PwC, and recently being named a winner of the firm’s ChatGPT Enterprise Challenge.
- Representing PwC on a panel at Curtin University, speaking with students about moving from study into industry and why transferable skills matter as much as technical ones.
On top of the job itself, Jasmine says she loves sharing her knowledge about AI tools with others so that they too can get up to speed with its rapid changes.
