About May Thandar Aung-Htut

With a PhD in biochemistry and molecular genetics from the University of New South Wales, May leads drug development programs for rare and inherited genetic disorders at the Centre for Molecular Medicine and Innovative Therapeutics, Murdoch University.

As a result of family commitments, she had several career interruptions in the early years of her career. However, her determination to pursue her love for translational research led to her success today.

Using experience from her past, she provides mentorship to early career researchers and offers support to them in any way she can.
