About Barbara Kachigunda

Barbara is biosecurity expert working with the Harry Butler Institute, Murdoch University as a biostatistician, focusing on statistical modelling and data analytics in an environmental biosecurity research context. She has extensive experience in international multidisciplinary research projects in Zimbabwe, Namibia, South Africa, the United Kingdom, China, and USA. Barbara is passionate about addressing the gender inequality in STEM through mentoring the next generation and believes in inclusion and diversity. She is an alumni and mentor for “Women in Engineering” programme, a Chevron Australia initiative offering women skills for employment within the resources industry or higher STEM education pathways. She is a current recipient of a post-doctoral Fulbright Scholarship 2021, to collaborate with the Biosecurity Research Institute, Kansas University.
