About Siobhan Sturdy

Siobhan Sturdy is the first woman to complete a full posting as the Marine Engineer Officer of an Australian Submarine, and she is passionate about encouraging more women to pursue technical careers in the military. Siobhan has 11 years of experience in the Royal Australian Navy, the last 8 of which have been in submarines. She has been in involved in a number of recruiting campaigns and in early 2020 she helped launch and create content for the national Engineering is Elementary program, which aims to teach primary school students about future STEM careers. Siobhan was recognised in the 2020 Queen’s Birthday Honours, earning a Conspicuous Service Medal for her role as the Marine Engineer Officer of HMAS Sheean.
