About Deborah Yates

As an early career teacher, Debbie has shown an outstanding commitment to her own and others personal growth, proving herself capable against every challenge that has been thrown her way. A broken neck in a car accident only saw her come back more determined than ever.

Debbie has made significant contributions in inspiring girls to choose STEM education pathways through her focused and innovative design of initiatives. She led the planning, development and implementation of the STEM Girls Day Camp ensuring it aligned with all aspects of the STEM curriculum. The program focused on increasing students’ global awareness and the use of STEM to solve real-world issues. This program has since formed the basis of a state-wide STEM learning project. Debbie also led a series of STEM Champions after-school workshops for parents and their children from the Cluster primary schools.
Debbie’s commitment to employing innovative and inclusive teaching strategies underpins every aspect of her planning and classroom practice. She has a passion for creating engaging units of work that are effective in inspiring her students and improving their learning. At the core of everything Debbie does, is her desire for all students to achieve success.
