Meet the panel:
Poonam Garg, Vice President at U.S. Bank
Poonam is an engineering leader and women in technology advocate working as Vice President at U.S. Bank. She has spearheaded cultural transformation around DevOps at U.S. Bank through an agile and collaborative approach (“change mindset”) to software development. Poonam leads the technical transformation by assisting engineering with adopting industry best practices and cloud ready solutions. Currently, Poonam is leading an effort to enable engineering productivity. Poonam coached and mentored 50+ teams on re-architecting mainframe, DevOps tools and immersing DevSecOps into Agile software development practices. She is an active member of Women in Technology networks within and outside of the bank. She speaks at many tech industry events.
Joanne Cooper, Executive Director, Life Coach, Math Tutor
Joanne spent 25 years in the corporate software world as a developer and manager, creating business solutions, and supporting global, cross-functional teams. After many years of volunteering, Joanne’s career transitioned to the not-for-profit world, spending the next ten years as a project manager and Executive Director, supporting vulnerable populations through strong leadership, good communication, and building partnerships (aka “soft skills”). She is also a life coach, math tutor, and mother, and loves using her problem-solving skills to try to make sense of the world. Joanne’s lived experience provides great insights into the complexities of being a highly sensitive woman and devoted mother, working in male environments, and caring ‘too’ much in an insensitive world. Joanne is grateful to be part of this community with other women to share experiences, collectively problem solve, and amplify each other’s voices to address issues important to women and girls.
