Ron Gibson at a WiTWA &Port80 Networking Event

This co-ed event is a new venture for WiTWA - we will get together with Port80, the networking group of the WA Web Industry Association. And to accommodate the networking Ron Gibson from GoNetworking will be there to take us on a journey of discovery and provided us with some invaluable training on how to not only enjoy business events, but make them count. Ron's presentation includes a range of observations and hints including:

• The most successful people in business are invariably the best connected.

• Advertising, brochures, websites and online networking via Linkedln and Twitter all have a potential role in the growth of your business, but nothing can consistently connect you with prospects and land you new business like face-to-face networking can.

• The people who get the most out of networking begin a connection with casual conversation, engaging questions and meaningful dialogue so they can get to know the other person.

• Networking events are not the place for pitching, selling and closing business on the spot. They are an opportunity to meet people to then follow up.

The message is that networking is a powerful way to do business, but that it is often misunderstood and misused. Come along to have fun and learn.
