Bob McGannon
Director of Mindavation, developed the concept of 'Intelligent Disobedience' throughout his years of managing IT projects.
Topic:
Intelligent Disobedience is the ability to counter management directions or instructions and suggest improvements while defending the integrity of the organisation. This ability requires courage, good presentation skills and political awareness. These skills set the great leaders apart from those who are merely good.Engaging in intelligent disobedience requires a dedication to your own truth, a dedication to what you personally believe is ethical, and a pursuit of personal growth in your own terms. The challenge for all of us is to engage in our work in such a fashion that we can pursue that all important personal growth and support the highest possible truth, all while still conforming to the needs and requirements of our employers, or the marketplace that pays us for our skills. We will explore this challenging set of objectives as we discuss this topic at the WIT meeting in October.
