June 2011

Welcome!

  • our Social Media and Privacy Breakfast Event for women was a sold-out event,
  • we secured new sponsorship from Horizon Power for techtrails, our education program aimed at bringing regional kids into careers in technology,
  • and our committee member Sarah Mitchell was featured on high-profile blogging site Social Media Today
June promises to be even more eventful, with WITWA's involvement with industry panel discussions and forums, and WITWA chair Marjolein Towler participating in SIFE Curtin University's Women In Leadership Breakfast.
We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events, and you can find us on FaceBook, LinkedIn and Twitter.

Social Media &
Privacy Breakfast
Social Media and Privacy is a hot topic. Our women-only event on 27 May 2011 discussed the paradigm shift in how we communicate and the impact it has on our personal privacy. Women, in particular, need to be aware of how the information flows and is distributed in social networks.  After speaking at our sold-out event, WITWA committee member Sarah Mitchell shared her presentation on the WITWA site.
